Anchor
A point or points where a climber is secured to a cliff face or a ledge by using gear, permanent fixed
bolts or
pitons, and natural objects like trees, flakes, or boulders. These anchor points either protect the climber from the consequences of a long fall or tie the climber into the face on a ledge or stance for belaying.
